Newer coverage area: Policies designed for schools and collectives, not just athletes.
How school funding and NIL income interact
Schools and collectives are separate entities that often work in parallel. A school may have resources dedicated to athlete recruitment and support, while a collective raises money from donors and boosters to offer additional compensation. Athletes can also earn outside endorsement income.
Example of total income determination:
School package offer ($800,000) + Collective compensation ($500,000) + Outside endorsements = athlete’s total income for evaluation.

What DD&D can address for institutions
- Death
- Disability that prevents the athlete from fulfilling services tied to the school’s program or events as defined in agreements
- Disgrace events that may affect eligibility, participation, or institutional reputation under policy terms
Because school obligations and program participation are defined differently from endorsement obligations, we tailor policy terms to the institution’s real exposures and documentation. Where on-field duties are not part of a given agreement, “own occupation” disability definitions may not apply and will be handled accordingly in the policy language.
Who it’s for
- Colleges and universities seeking to manage NIL-era reputation and participation risk
- Athletic departments and compliance teams that want clarity on coverage triggers and exclusions
- Counsel and administrators who need policies aligned to institutional agreements and events
What we’ll ask for
- Relevant program agreements and policy objectives
- A Census for relevant risks.
- Event calendars where single-event coverage may be considered
- Compliance and legal contacts
- Risk appetite, desired limits, and timing
- Any documentation needed to evaluate exposures connected to institutional obligations

Our Process
1. Determine exposures and insurable need based on institutional obligations and any related compensation structures
2. Submit documentation
3. Submit medical records when applicable
4. Underwriters review
5. Receive a quote on the elements to insure
6. Issue the policy
Schools and collectives are separate entities with different obligations. They also may have different assets, a school’s amount determined by the NCAA, and a Collective’s determined by the party running the Collective. Policies are tailored to each entity’s exposures and needs.
Yes. Many institutions pair program-level DD&D with one-game catastrophic coverage for marquee events.
Only where duties are defined in a way that supports that definition. If not, we adjust terms to reflect the actual obligations.
